counting down Cold Roses

In honor of there being only 4 DAYS until the release of the latest from Ryan Adams, Cold Roses...

The album can now be streamed, in its entirety, at ryan-adams.com. Go give it a listen.

This sucks a little wind out of my hype machine, but blows said wind right back into the ears of the music anticipating public. Cold Roses is the music floating along on this wind, and I'd have to say it kind of feels like spring.

I haven't listened to much of it yet, but feel free to post your thoughts in lieu of my own.

FYI, check out the Lost Highway Records website, and listen to the jukebox. Enjoy -- or not -- the music of the Soggy Bottom Boys, Mary Gautier, Gillian Welch, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Tift Merritt, the Jayhawks, Lucinda Williams, et al. The music is free, free, free! So . . . take that into account when listening.

BTW, the Lost Highway jukebox has a fair amount of Ryan Adams' songs, and a few Whiskeytown songs.

I mayn't have placed this comment in the right place, but c'est la vie!

As to the 1st two comments, one can truly say that Fukuyama was right -- it is the end of history.

Some will shrug their shoulders muttering under their breaths, "Bummer!"

Many more will say, "Who? What are you talking about?" and just walk on by.

Then from out of a pink haze Rip Van Winkle awakens, "Don't you mean Bryan Adams?"

I suppose it's entirely possible that Cold Roses will not be very good. From listening thus far, I like it mostly... I somewhat wonder if it would have been a stronger single album (as opposed to double). It's really hard to tell on the website, quality is not the best.

To answer the question on what my life would be like if Cold Roses is terrible? Well I think it's all about the difference between hopes and expectations.

I hope Cold Roses will be good, but I don't expect it to be. Hopes dashed means disapointment, expectations unfufilled leads to life stopping cold in its tracks. That's what I think.
