Drooling in the City Limits
The lineup for this fall's Austin City Limits Festival has just been announced. I'm essentially speechless.
Of note (in my book): Coldplay, Oasis, Wilco, Deathcab for Cutie, Arcade Fire, Spoon, Eisley, The Doves, The Decemberists, Rachael Yamagata...

This festival has been annointed by God...amazing...and expensive.
At the risk of sounding sacrilegious, I wish I had a few more treasures stored up on earth right now. $95 of treasures, to be specific.
Rarely does something good, prim, or proper come after "at the risk of."
Glaring omission: Patty Griffin, ACL Mainstay.
Glaring inclusion: Spoon, making their 3rd (or 4th?) consecutive ACL Fest.
Here's a suggestion, ACL fest (and, yes, I'm aware that precious few ACL decision makers read Brent's blog regularly): Don't put different kinds of bands on different stages back-to-back.
Example: Oasis-Coldplay on the same stage on the same night makes sense. Britpop fans like britpop. Maybe even put Doves and Keane opening before them. It'll be like a real concert, and we won't have to move. Don't put John Prine after Arcade Fire on the same stage!
That stuff kills me!
Amen brother.
Hey...
Speaking of glaring omissions what's up with Ryan Adams? I mean it's cool because I'm going to be seeing him twice next month and everything, but I mean come on
the friggin tickets went up to $105 already today. but i bought a ticket anyway.
